THIS BOAT HAS NO EQUAL!
She has large cabin areas below deck with a galley, head,
forward cabin that could be made into a large sleeping cabin. This along with the large aft cabin that could be fitted with
two additional bunks clearly gives you a number of different options to work with. The hull of this boat is made from Corteen
Steel, which is more of an alloy that was created to resist rust. The helm, the forward cabin and rear cabin are all made
from aluminum; this perfect combination makes this boat nearly rust proof.
There were only 110 MLB-44’s ever built, and very few are still left in this country. With over 40 years
of service in the worst of conditions there has never been an MLB-44 ever lost.
What other boat can come close to that reality....NONE!
This is the perfect boat to have for deep-sea
fishing. Very safe with lots of room below deck, and plenty of room to walk around while you are fishing off the sides. The
low spot between the helm and the back cabin is perfect for bringing in large halibut and tuna, and because of its 9 watertight
compartments this boat can roll around in the ocean forever and never sink.
This boat, if broad sided by a wave large enough to turn it over, it will return to an upright position in 30 seconds or less, Keep running and bring you back home every time.
This piece of Monterey history served its entire U.S. Coast Guard life in Monterey Bay, California. 1965-2002
Anyone with any information on who served on board and what major events she went through would be appreciated. I am trying
to finish her history book. If you live in Monterey and have any photos or stories I would love to hear from you.
Fully restored she is now ready to go back to work.
Don’t let this historic boat pass you by. You may never see another
one for sale again!
She is
available for viewing in Portland Oregon at the Multnomah Yacht Harbor just East of downtown Portland on the Multnomah Channel.
